Abstract

Lahore is considered the center of knowledge and wisdom from the beginning. It is one of the ancient cities of the world which is known for its historical, cultural and political importance. The land of Lahore is very fortunate to have the company of Sufis and Dervaishes. Here, Muslim Sufis and scholars played an active role in the propagation of Islam. These great personalities possessed bright ideas and high morals and character. They spread the light of Islam throughout the world through Punjabi poetry. In this article the writer has tried to mention the tradition and evolution of Punjabi poetry of Lahore from sixteenth century to 1857 .
